Dr Shadi

Dr Shadi graduated as a general practitioner in Iran in 2009 and moved to Australia five years later with her husband.

She choose Tasmania because of the weather which is similar to her home country. Gardening is her favourite hobby.

Her particular interests are skin cancer and women’s health.

Dr Emily Goss

FRACGP, MBBS

Dr. Emily Goss, has built her career on a foundation of skill, compassion, and an unwavering dedication to patient care. After graduating from the University of Tasmania in 2013, she gained invaluable experience working in the high-pressure environment of Launceston General Hospital’s Emergency Department. These early years not only sharpened her clinical expertise but also deepened her understanding of the diverse needs of patients and the importance of timely, empathetic care.

Guided by the influence of inspiring mentors throughout her life, Emily discovered her true calling in General Practice. This specialty allows her to build lasting relationships with her patients and focus on delivering holistic care tailored to their individual needs. She is driven by a steadfast commitment to achieving the best possible outcomes for every person she treats, continually striving to improve her skills and maintain the highest standards in her practice.

Outside of medicine, Emily treasures time spent with her family and makes it a priority to maintain a healthy balance between her professional and personal life.

Dr Natasha Vavrek

BMedSci, MBBS (Hons), FRACGP

Dr. Natasha Vavrek, a proud Launceston local, is a vital part of the Windmill Hill Medical Centre team and a trailblazer in women’s health. Honoured as the 2024 Launceston Chamber of Commerce Young Professional of the Year and Tasmanian recipient of the Australian Award for Excellence in Women’s Leadership, she is passionate about empowering women and delivering exceptional, patient-centred care.

Graduating with Honours in Medicine and Surgery from the University of Tasmania in 2009, Dr. Vavrek honed her skills at Launceston General Hospital before achieving her RACGP Fellowship and earning the prestigious Tasmanian Examination Medal in 2013. Her qualifications include certifications in Reproductive and Sexual Health, Neuroprotective Developmental Care, and ongoing training to become an International Board-Certified Lactation Consultant.

Dr. Vavrek’s expertise spans pregnancy planning, antenatal care, menopause support, and pregnancy ultrasound. Her career highlights include work in Refugee Health, medical education, and a steadfast commitment to community service. As an active volunteer and leader within Soroptimist International, she champions initiatives to uplift women and girls providing support where needed.

Jane Laidlaw

Nurse Practitioner; Grad.Cert General Practice 2009 (USC), Master Nursing 2013 (QUT)

Jane has been a vital part of the Windmill Hill Medical Centre team for many years, bringing passion, dedication, and a genuine commitment to General Practice. Her empathetic approach and attentive listening make her a trusted and sought-after practitioner for a wide range of healthcare services.

Driven by a deep sense of community, Jane has been a tireless advocate for society’s most vulnerable. Five years ago, she established a mission health clinic for Launceston’s homeless, embodying her commitment to empowering others and fostering communal well-being.

Jane’s dedication extends further through her collaboration with Dr. Leanne Jones and Dr. Natasha Vavrek as a volunteer with Soroptimist International. Together, they work to address challenges faced by women and girls in the community, creating meaningful change and improving lives.

Dr Leanne Jones

BMed.Sci, MBBS, MRACGP

Dr. Leanne Jones has been a cornerstone of Launceston’s healthcare community for over 30 years, dedicating her career to providing holistic and compassionate care. Since graduating from the University of Tasmania, she has developed a deep expertise in Women’s Health and Family Care, earning the trust and respect of her patients and colleagues alike. Her collaborative leadership has been instrumental in shaping the success of Windmill Hill, fostering a community-focused approach that prioritises meaningful patient outcomes.

Outside of her medical practice, Leanne is passionate about photography and travel, capturing life’s moments and exploring. She is also deeply committed to giving back through her volunteer work with Soroptimist International. This innovative organisation focuses on empowering women and girls, with members creating immediate, hands-on solutions to address local and global issues, reflecting Leanne’s dedication to making a positive impact both inside and outside the clinic.

Dr Peter Rogers

BSc (Hons), BMed.Sci; MBBS (Hons), FACRRM, JCCA

A keen interest in acute medical care (anaesthetics, emergency, ICU and retrieval medicine) and rural/remote medicine has taken Peter to many areas of rural Australia. After an extended journey around the Australian countryside, Peter returned to Tasmania to live a balanced life between his young family and medicine.

Maintaining good health matters to Peter, being active and engaged in a healthy lifestyle is his passion.

Dr Timothy Shaw

BMedSci, MBBS (Hons), MEthandLegStud (Hlth) FRACGP

Dr Tim Shaw is a UTAS graduate. He served as an Army Medical Officer with the Australian Defence Force before returning to complete his General Practice Training.

Dr Shaw has worked as a GP in Launceston for the past 10 years with special interests in Men’s Health, Diabetes, Dive, Occupational and Skin cancer medicine. He has a keen interest in Orthopaedic Surgery and assists Mr David Penn. Socially Dr Shaw enjoys time with his family and is a keen swimmer.
