Experienced, dynamic & friendly

Windmill Hill Medical is a new medical centre in a well known medical precinct in Launceston that prides itself in providing quality medical care in a timely, friendly, professional manner. 

We are an experienced, dynamic group of doctors, allied health practitioners, nurses and admin staff. Our specialist GPs - Dr Leanne Jones, Dr Tim Shaw, Dr Natashsa Varek, Dr Clifford and Dr Peter Rogers, Dietitian Amelia White and Nurse Practitioner Jane Laidlaw are here to assist with your ongoing care.

As a group our specialist practitioners have broad experience and welcome new patients.

Dr Timothy Shaw 

BMedSci, MBBS (Hons), MEthandLegStud (Hlth) FRACGP

Dr Tim Shaw is a UTAS graduate. He served as an Army Medical Officer with the Australian Defence Force before returning to complete his General Practice Training. 

Dr Shaw has worked as a GP in Launceston for the past 10 years with special interests in Men’s Health, Diabetes, Dive, Occupational and Skin cancer medicine. He has a keen interest in Orthopaedic Surgery and assists Mr David Penn. Socially Dr Shaw enjoys time with his family and is a keen swimmer and President of the Launceston Aussie Masters Swim Club.

Jane Laidlaw

Nurse Practitioner; Grad.Cert General Practice 2009 (USC), Master Nursing 2013 (QUT)

Jane Laidlaw is an experienced and compassionate Nurse Practitioner who is available to undertake women’s health checks and reviews of unwell patients with a broad range of conditions. Jane has been a registered nurse since 1990 and moved to Tasmania from England to raise her family and enjoy the wonderful lifestyle here. When not at work, exercising, or with her family, Jane is learning. It is quite obvious when you meet Jane that she is passionate about her ongoing education.

Dr. Glenn Clifford

FRACGP, MBBS, B.H.Sc (Acup)

Dr. Glenn Clifford grew up in Brisbane and completed a Trade certification before continuing to study and complete a Bachelor of Health Science majoring in Acupuncture.

After spending many years living and working overseas and travelling the world, he returned to Brisbane and completed his medical degree at the University of Queensland, St Lucia.

Dr. Glenn Clifford and his young family moved to Launceston in 2019 to enjoy a lifestyle change and complete his General Practice training.  

Whilst Dr Clifford enjoys all aspects of General Practice, Glenn also assists for Orthopaedic Surgeon, Dr Tim Marshall and works within the Launceston Aboriginal Community as a GP.

Glenn enjoys spending his spare time with his family, enjoying trail runs or mountain biking around the Gorge, playing competition tennis for the local tennis club and enjoying beautiful Tasmania by caravan.

Dr. Emily Goss

FRACGP, MBBS

Dr. Emily Goss grew up in Longford and graduated from the University of Tasmania in 2013. She worked at Launceston General Hospital Emergency Department after completing her intern and resident year.

Emily completed her fellowship with the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners in 2023. Emily has a special interest in rural medicine and has worked in varied environments. She enjoys all aspects of General Practice. Emily also works for the University of Tasmania as a senior lecturer.

Outside of medicine, Emily enjoys spending time with her family in the many beautiful locations around Tasmania.

Dr Leanne Jones

BMed.Sci, MBBS, MRACGP

Leanne brings over 30yrs of specialist GP experience to Windmill Hill. Leanne is passionate about all aspects of general practice especially women's health, aged care, preventative health and immunisation.

 

Dr Peter Rogers

BSc (Hons), BMed.Sci; MBBS (Hons), FACRRM, JCCA.

A keen interest in acute medical care (anaesthetics, emergency, ICU and retrieval medicine) and rural/remote medicine has taken Peter to many areas of rural Australia. After an extended journey around the Australian countryside, Peter returned to Tasmania to live a balanced life between his young family and medicine. Maintaining good health matters to Peter, being active and engaged in a healthy lifestyle is his passion.

Dr Natasha Vavrek

BMedSci, MBBS (Hons), FRACGP

Dr Natasha Vavrek was born and raised in Launceston.  She studied a Bachelor of Medical Science, then completed a Bachelor of Medicine and Surgery at the University of Tasmania, graduating with Honours in 2009. After completing internship and residency at the Launceston General Hospital, she then went on to achieve fellowship with the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners (RACGP). She was also awarded the RACGP Tasmanian Examination medal in 2013.

She has a FPAA National Certificate in Reproductive and Sexual Health, and is a trained and highly experienced IUD (Intrauterine Contraceptive Device) inserter.  She has inserted hundreds of IUDs and is very experienced with the insertion of IUDs in women who have not had children or have only had caesarean sections.

She has a special interest in Pregnancy Planning, GP antenatal shared care, and post natal support. She is currently one of only two accredited Neuroprotective Developmental Care (NDC) Practitioners in Tasmania.  Through her training she can provide comprehensive, evidence based approaches to infant sleep issues, crying and unsettled behaviour, as well as supporting mothers with any breastfeeding problems

She is also developing a new found love for supporting women during menopause, and is a member of the Australasian Menopause Society.

Dr Vavrek has past experience working at Family Planning Launceston and Refugee Health Launceston. She is a cosmetic injector on weekends at Purebody Launceston and holds qualifications in both basic and advanced techniques for cosmetic injectables.

She is a mother of two young daughters, Hazel and Lillian, and enjoys spending time with the girls and her husband at their shack in Bicheno.

Amelia White (Dietitian)

Bachelor of Health Science, Masters of Dietetics Practice (La Trobe)

Amelia is a local of Launceston and has worked in clinics throughout the North and North-West Tasmania. She has a passion for good food and sharing her knowledge of nutrition with others. Amelia is interested in a wide variety of nutrition related conditions, however her special interests include heart health, diabetes, weight management and food intolerances.

In her spare time Amelia enjoys cooking, running and basketball.
