Dr Shadi graduated as a general practitioner in Iran in 2009 and moved to Australia five years later with her husband.
She choose Tasmania because of the weather which is similar to her home country. Gardening is her favourite hobby.
Her particular interests are skin cancer and women’s health.

Honoured as the 2024 Launceston Chamber of Commerce Young Professional of the Year and Tasmanian recipient of the Australian Award for Excellence in Women’s Leadership, she is passionate about empowering women and delivering exceptional, patient-centred care.
Graduating with Honours in Medicine and Surgery from the University of Tasmania in 2009, Dr. Vavrek honed her skills at Launceston General Hospital before achieving her RACGP Fellowship and earning the prestigious Tasmanian Examination Medal in 2013. Her qualifications include certifications in Reproductive and Sexual Health, Neuroprotective Developmental Care, and ongoing training to become an International Board-Certified Lactation Consultant.
Dr. Vavrek’s expertise spans pregnancy planning, antenatal care, menopause support, and pregnancy ultrasound. Her career highlights include work in Refugee Health, medical education, and a steadfast commitment to community service. As an active volunteer and leader within Soroptimist International, she champions initiatives to uplift women and girls providing support where needed.

Driven by a deep sense of community, Jane has been a tireless advocate for society’s most vulnerable. Five years ago, she established a mission health clinic for Launceston’s homeless, embodying her commitment to empowering others and fostering communal well-being.
Jane’s dedication extends further through her collaboration with Dr. Leanne Jones and Dr. Natasha Vavrek as a volunteer with Soroptimist International. Together, they work to address challenges faced by women and girls in the community, creating meaningful change and improving lives.

Dr Tim Shaw is a UTAS graduate. He served as an Army Medical Officer with the Australian Defence Force before returning to complete his General Practice Training.
Dr Shaw has worked as a GP in Launceston for the past 10 years with special interests in Men’s Health, Diabetes, Dive, Occupational and Skin cancer medicine. He has a keen interest in Orthopaedic Surgery and assists Mr David Penn. Socially Dr Shaw enjoys time with his family and is a keen swimmer.
